In mid-November, we made further progress in our Hadar community development
project. We have held series of meetings where Israeli Jews and Arabs, some
of whom were neighbors for many years meeting face to face for the first time
The meeting went well in a sense that each participant of the group showed great
desire and enthusiasm to be operative as to their plan. We were 7 Jews and two
Arabs.
The first part of the meeting was very tough. Suddenly a "sleeping"
group talked as they never did before. That was frightening and very sad. New
voices have been heard from the Jews. They talked about disagreements with their
Arab neighbors' opinions towards Nasralla and the war. There was anger, frustration,
despair. Our hostess represented the Arab voice. She said that some of the voices
she heard at her home town frightened her more than those of Liberman and his
friends because of the sudden change in people’s opinions. It was very
sad and difficult to see what this war did here in Haifa.
The good news is that after we shared reflections, emotions, and the new motions
resulting from the war within the group, we all agreed that we felt that dialogue
is now extremely important. Much more than ever. We also all agreed that it
is our duty now to meet more often and to be operative in order to show that
in spite of all we are still a working group.
We are meeting this week twice to make a significant progress. We also decided
to invite new Arabs to this group in that stage in order to make it an Arabs
Jews' group.
